Built in 1884 (upgraded in 2013), this four-bedroom Nuwara Eliya bungalow has an old-world charm and is designed with wooden floors, fire places and gabled roof.

Stafford Bungalow offers the experience of living in this heritage planter’s bungalow within a 50 acre working tea plantation. It is located amongst one of the finest tea fields in the world, in a private and stylish ambience. Ragala is situated 40 minutes away from Nuwara Eliya. Most guests would do a day trip to Nuwra Eliya to explore the lake Gregory, enjoy a game of golf at the prestigious golf club or visit one of the many tea factories around.

Stafford bungalow is situated on a working tea plantation. While you experience the guided morning tea walk, you can go visit the tea plucking ladies taking a break sipping a cup of tea. Make sure to purchase our very own tea on your stay with us.

Our family room is specifically designed for families with children. The large room consists of a double bed with an adjoining section with twin beds which separates with swing doors. On a special request we could even include an additional extra bed to accommodate larger families.

All our rooms are on the ground floor with direct access to the restaurant. All rooms are equipped with shower railings to assist guests. We generally suggest the front garden deluxe room and the family suite as the layout of the room allows easy wheelchair access for a comfortable stay.

We do not have the facility of chauffeur accommodation at the property, however we would assist you to book lodging for the chauffeur at a cost in a nearby location. We recommend you book ahead during the season.

Yes, we do give out the whole villa which is 4 rooms. You can get in touch with our reservations for special rates if you are looking for a buyout of the property.

We do not serve Pork at Stafford Bungalow.

Weather in this part of the island is pleasant throughout the year making it an ideal getaway. Winter months are popular with the temperature in Nuwara Eliya falling down to chilly levels. Summers here are quite pleasant too. The best time to visit Nuwara Eliya is from December to April.

We have bicycles which you can use to go explore the area. You can have a quick dip in our swimming pool in the chilly weather or relax in our jacuzzi while enjoying a cup of hot tea.

In our front lawn we have croquet and mini golf. There is a games room indoors with a fireplace which consists a collection of board games to play.

A must try during your stay is the morning tea walk where you can dress up and put a tea basket on, to go pluck two leaves and a bud just like the tea pluckers. Make sure to get a click for the gram as this is a one of a kind experience!

We arrange the tea tasting at our games room. Slurp, Roll, Twist, Spit – an interesting group experience to do while you taste teas to identify its various grades and types, this experience can be arranged with your butler at a charge during your stay.

Visit Ella( 2.3hrs drive), visit a tea factory ( 20 mins drive) and if you love chasing waterfalls Kurundu Oya waterfall is a great trek to tick off the list.(40 mins drive)
